City Council PASSES VOTE

To Slash Fire Department

July 26, 2023

As many of you are already aware, last night, the city council rejected your calls for safety and voted to place your and your family's lives at greater, unnecessary risk.

Make no mistake about this vote. The council had a choice, and they've chosen to gamble with your safety, lives, and livelihoods.

As President of your Big Spring Fire Fighters, I cannot express our entire membership's profound thanks for your time, voice, calls, emails, and support. Friends, neighbors, and citizens you have shown us where your priorities rest, and your voices were heard by the fire fighters.

While we cannot stress enough how much this vote needlessly threatens lives and local businesses, we also respect the municipal process, the rule of law, and our local government.

You have counted on us to be there for you on your worst day, and I can assure you that, within the limited resources that we have left, your fire fighters will do all that we can to continue to provide the best service possible. 

We ask you to pray for the safety of our community. Pray for the safety of your family, friends, and neighbors; and please join me in praying for the safety of your Big Spring Professional Fire Fighters.
